“OSO”, the documentary produced to mark the centenary of the TOUS jewelry firm, will be available on the Spanish audio-visual platform Movistar+ from 1 December.
“OSO” premiered at the 68th annual San Sebastián International Film Festival and was available in over 90 countries on Amazon Prime Video. It can also be seen in Russia, Ukraine, Georgia and the other CIS countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan) through the multimedia service VoD Okko. The arrival of “OSO” on Movistar+ will increase the impact of this documentary, directed by Amanda Sans Pantling (Fragile, Songs of Redemption), and produced by UM Studios and Globomedia (THE MEDIAPRO STUDIO).
This film’s journey continues. It traces the history of TOUS from its origins as a small family business in 1920 to the international company that it is today. It has more than 4,000 employees worldwide and operates in more than 45 countries through its over 700 stores.
“OSO” brings you the testimonies of family members, as well as never before seen photos. In fact, this is the first time the Tous family has opened its doors to the public, as the documentary includes interviews with all four sisters: Rosa, Alba, Laura and Marta. Along with their parents: Salvador Tous and Rosa Oriol. Rosa has a prominent role in the documentary as she broke new ground and created a new language in the world of fine jewelry. Her vision was to make jewelry more accessible, putting women in the spotlight with designs created for a more modern, empowered lifestyle.
Accompanying the Tous family on this centenary tour are some of the company’s most outstanding partners, brand ambassadors and a score of personalities from the world of fashion, design, journalism and art. Up close and personal, they spell out the secrets of its success. They include Eugenia Martínez de Irujo, Paula Echevarría, Verónica Echegui, Eva Longoria, Toni Segarra, Javier Mariscal, Oscar Guayabero, Fernando Gutiérrez, Mariángel Alcázar, Susana Martínez Vidal, Núria Petit and Pilar Vélez. Pilar is the director of Barcelona’s Museum of Design, where the TOUS “bear” is on display in recognition of its status as a symbol of contemporary design and its international impact.
Shot in Spain, Mexico, India and Japan, “OSO” showcases the visionary nature of the brand through the milestones that have defined its success. These include passing the torch down through three generations, its change of direction in the 1980s that lead to its commercial launch, and the brand’s explosion in the 1990s with contributions from renowned influencers and its international impact.
