TOUS temporarily ceases its activity in Spain to contain the spread of Covid-19 and protect the future of its employees

TOUS takes this decision as an exercise of social responsibility to protect the health and safety of its employees and their families, and to ensure long-term employment

TOUS, the leading Spanish brand of jewellery and accessories in the affordable luxury segment, has made the decision to temporarily halt its activity in Spain with the main objective of protecting the health and safety of its employees and their families, as well as that of its customers, and to stop the spread of the coronavirus.

This is an exceptional situation, since all TOUS stores in Spain are closed, as well as in most of the markets in which it operates. At the same time, the brand has voluntarily decided to postpone the deliveries of its online sales channel, in order to protect all the employees dedicated to this segment.

As a result of the effects of this temporary situation, triggered by the state of alarm, the company will apply for a Temporary Layoff Procedure that will affect the vast majority of its staff, with the aim of ensuring the future of the jobs in the long term. In the words of Carlos Soler Duffo, CEO of TOUS, "TOUS employees are our main asset, and we will take the necessary measures to guarantee their employment and to compensate for the impact of this measure".

In this sense, the firm has committed itself to:

•To reinforce public aid so that its entire staff receive 80% of their fixed gross monthly salary.

•That it will also do so in a timely manner, with the company assuming the possible delay in receiving public aid.

•At the same time, TOUS will make available to its employees in situations of special need a line of microcredits to help them overcome any difficulties that may arise.

The company foresees that this measure will be dissolved as soon as the health situation allows the reopening of its stores. "This is the year of our centenary and we hope to get back to normality as soon as possible, to experience beautiful moments with our customers and our teams. The strength of our company should enable us to overcome this complex situation with the whole team", says Alba Tous.

TOUS appreciates the commitment that all its employees have shown to the company, and undertakes to continue to act responsibly, prioritising the health and safety of its workers and customers.
